Staff Accountant

Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles and practices to support our financial operations. Please apply if you have experience using software’s such as Caseware, Caseview, TaxPrep, and Profile

Responsibilities

  • Prepare compilation engagements and assist seniors with review & audit engagements
  • Prepare financial statements
  • Apply knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE)
  • Work on special tax engagements with tax department
  • Compute corporate tax and personal tax returns
  • Compute other tax compliance slips and trust returns
  • Help investigate and correct discrepancies/ irregularities in financial entries, documents
  • Respond to client questions and queries
  • Update manager or engagement partner on the progress of engagements
  • Be involved in various corporate committees within the organization
  • Be involved in various special summer projects during the summer
  • Have fun and be part of a growing team

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Enrollment in a formal accounting program (CPA PEP, or Graduate Diploma)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with software’s such as Caseware, Caseview, TaxPrep, and Profile
  • Knowledge of Quickbooks, Xero, Jonas and Sage will be an asset but not required
  • Strong commitment to excellence and attention to detail
  • Problem solver with solid analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Some travel may be required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 37.5 per week

Additional pay:

  • Overtime pay

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)

Experience:

  • Accounting: 3 years (preferred)

Language: English (preferred)
