Job Summary:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Construction Health and Safety Consultant to join our team. The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong background in providing onsite safety assistance and support to Construction Builders/Developers, Subcontractors/Trades, and Industrial facilities.
Role:
Reporting to the H&S Field Manager, you will primarily be responsible for providing onsite safety assistance for Construction Builders/Developers, Subcontractors/Trades, and Industrial facilities across the GTHA and surrounding regions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Advise clients (management, supervisors, and workers) on compliance with OHSA & regulations, and regulatory bodies
- Conduct site health & safety inspections for low-rise, high-rise construction projects, trades, and industrial facilities
- Enforce OHSA, regulations, and employer-specific safety requirements
- Develop, coordinate, and conduct training presentations related to H&S compliance (e.g. WHMIS, fire safety training, workplace violence and harassment, H&S programs)
- Ensure health and safety compliance for constructors, trades, and subcontractors
- Conduct health and safety orientations for workers, trades, and subcontractors
- Present safety meetings (“toolbox talks”) with workers on various health and safety topics
- Develop and distribute safety memos and alerts, when required
- Assist clients with coordination and completion of Joint Health & Safety Committees and Worker Trades Committees
- Create customized traffic control plans in accordance with Construction Regulation 213/91 and municipal requirements
- Advise on and develop site-specific safe work procedures and job hazard analysis for high-risk tasks
- Complete full investigations and follow up implementation of corrective actions for various types of incidents (near misses, medical injuries, critical injuries)
- Liaison with MLITSD representatives during site visits and ensure timely compliance with MLITSD orders
- Assist with full implementation and maintenance of health & safety management systems (including COR™) on construction projects
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in construction and industrial health and safety required
- Minimum 1-2 years’ experience within consulting or related discipline required
- Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety preferred
- NCSO, CRSP, CRST designation(s) is an asset or working towards
- Highly knowledgeable of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, Construction Regulation 213/91, R.R.O. 1990; Reg. 851: Industrial Establishments
- Must be proficient in Office 365 applications, safety reporting software (SiteDocs, Procore, etc.), time tracking software

- Comfortable spending long periods in a construction environment of standing and walking through active job sites (5+ hours per day)
- Effective communicators that can interact with on site staff, visitors, subcontractors, trades, clients and vendors
- Attentive to detail and accuracy
- Have excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong presenter
The successful applicant must have a valid Ontario G license or equivalent, with a clean driving record.
Starting salary commensurate with experience and education.
