We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles and practices to support our financial operations. Please apply if you have experience using software’s such as Caseware, Caseview, TaxPrep, and Profile
Responsibilities
- Prepare compilation engagements and assist seniors with review & audit engagements
- Prepare financial statements
- Apply knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE)
- Work on special tax engagements with tax department
- Compute corporate tax and personal tax returns
- Compute other tax compliance slips and trust returns
- Help investigate and correct discrepancies/ irregularities in financial entries, documents
- Respond to client questions and queries
- Update manager or engagement partner on the progress of engagements
- Be involved in various corporate committees within the organization
- Be involved in various special summer projects during the summer
- Have fun and be part of a growing team
QUALIFICATIONS
- Enrollment in a formal accounting program (CPA PEP, or Graduate Diploma)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics or equivalent experience
- Experience working with software’s such as Caseware, Caseview, TaxPrep, and Profile
- Knowledge of Quickbooks, Xero, Jonas and Sage will be an asset but not required
- Strong commitment to excellence and attention to detail
- Problem solver with solid analytical skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Some travel may be required

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 37.5 per week
Additional pay:
- Overtime pay

- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)

- Accounting: 3 years (preferred)
